Call for papers

Ľudovít Štúr Institute of Linguistics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and Faculty of Arts of the Comenius University in Bratislava invite you to participate in the 18th annual meeting of the Slavic Linguistics Society (SLS-18). The annual SLS conferences serve to foster international dialogue on Slavic linguistics. Therefore the meeting has a character of international scientific conference and its presentations, papers or panels include a wide spectrum of Slavic linguistic topics within any framework and theoretical or methodological approaches.

We invite submissions of:
(I) individual papers for general sessions and
(II) panel proposals for thematic sessions.

Preferred language of submissions as well as presented papers is English.

SLS-18 is planned as an in-person conference. Online participation may only be allowed exceptionally and under very specific circumstances (e.g. travel or visa restrictions). Each request for online participation will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

I General Session Papers

The submitted abstract should refer to a 20-minute presentation followed by a 10-minute discussion. Submissions are limited to one single-authored and one jointly authored abstract per applicant. Abstracts should be limited to 3,500 characters (without spaces), including bibliography and keywords. The abstract proposal should be uploaded to sls18-2023-Bratislava-Abstract. Submissions will be anonymized and assessed by the Programme Committee.

II Thematic Panel Proposals

Panel proposals should include a title (topic) of the panel, abstract limited to 5,000 characters (without spaces) including bibliography and keywords, name and affiliation of the panel leader, and 4–8 individual 20-minute presentations followed by a discussion. Panel proposals should be uploaded to sls18-2023-Bratislava-Panel.

All active participants are required to be members of the Slavic Linguistics Society. The SLS membership will be required during the registration (starting in May 2023), but it is not required at the time of abstract and proposal submission.
